The University of Puget Sound has chosen to install a network access control(NAC) in order to protect students and their information from the threat of viruses and hackers. Due to this, we require that all users with network access comply with the below polices:
You must do the following to maintain network access. Failure to comply will result in the user being quarantined and network access will be restricted:
Install Anti-virus software with on-access scanning and updated virus definitions. This applies to both PC's and Mac's. Both PC and Mac versions of this software are available for free download from techhelp.pugetsound.edu.
Connect to our network directly, either through the wireless or wired connection. No personal routers will be allowed.
Enable AUTOMATIC updates (Windows or Mac). Simply being up to date is not compliant.
Music and movies are not allowed to be stored in a shared folder. You must remove all music and movies from shared folders in order to connect.
Disable Limewire and/or Kazaa. Neither of these programs are allowed access on the network and your network access will be blocked if you attempt to run them.
Users will be warned in the following circumstances:
If any Peer to Peer(P2P) software is running. Due to Peer 2 Peer software's role in piracy and it's security issues, the university does not endorse the use of this software.
If anti-spyware software is not installed or not running. ResNet provides multiple anti-spyware solutions for free download from techhelp.pugetsound.edu.
