Please review these five important updates about technology support and services on campus: 1. All residential halls and university-owned residential houses now have wireless access. 2. A computer registration process is now required for all ResNet students. Residence hall students must authenticate with Safe Connect to ensure a reliable, secure network environment. Before you connect to the residential network, you will be required to install anti-virus software and, for PCs only, all critical Windows patches. See: McAfee anti-virus and anti-spyware downloads Instructions for installing Windows critical updates: XP Vista You will download a small policy key when you connect, and the Safe Connect agent will scan your computer to ensure it meets ResNet requirements before granting access. 3. You must save your data correctly when using a general access lab computer or you will lose it. We’ve installed software on the general access lab computers which reset them upon shut down each day. If you use one of these computers, you must save your work to your home directory (H:) on the Alexandria share drive or to a flash drive. Do not create or store files on the desktop of a lab computer. Your data will be erased once the computer is rebooted. See more information on data backup and storage. 4. Technology Services now provides round-the-clock support! You can contact our new expanded service, Tech Help, in the following ways:
5. The ResNet Service Desk is available for walk-up support in Library 028. We're available if you need assistance with your computer or network connection.
