STEP 1: Click the [START] button and select [Control Panel].
STEP 2: In the Control Panel, select the
[Network and Internet Connections] button. If you do not see the [Network and Internet
Connections] button, and rather see a [Network Connections] icon, double-click this and
then skip to STEP 4.
STEP 3: In the "Network and Internet
Connections" window, select the [Network Connections] icon.
STEP 4: In the "Network Connections"
window, right-click the [Local Area Connection] and choose [Properties].
STEP 5: In the "Local Area Connection
Properties" window, make sure that "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP)" is installed. If either one of these components are not installed, then
continue with STEP 6. If both are installed, then continue with STEP 7.
STEP 6: In the "Local Area Connection Properties"
window, click the [Install...] button. The next window, "Select Network Client", click "Client
for Microsoft Networks" and then [OK]. This will install the needed components for you to connect to the
network.
STEP 7: From the "Local Area Connection Properties"
window, highlight the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" component and click the [Properties] button.
STEP 8: In the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties"
window, verify that the "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected and that "Obtain DNS server
address automatically" is selected. Once you are done, click the [OK] button.
STEP 9: You will return to the "Local Area Connection
Properties" window. Click the [OK] button. If you are prompted to restart the computer, do so.
