Getting Help

Your computer has been running perfectly and then something goes wrong. What do you do? Luckily, you can solve many problems like this yourself. First, answer these questions:

  1. Have you changed the configuration of your computer in any way (e.g., hardware, software)? Often, recently installed software or hardware will cause other programs to stop responding.

  2. Are you the only person experiencing the problem? Chances are, if other users are having the same error, the problem could be with our network.

The following sections can help you diagnose and fix problems with your computer:

  • ResNet FAQ

    • The ResNet FAQ contains a list of commonly asked questions and their responses. For more information about any of the responses, contact ResNet at extension 8585, or (253) 879-8585.

  • Infosheets

    • ResNet has produced a series of informational documents (infosheets) to help you configure your residential connection, as well as direct you to antivirus and antispyware solutions hosted on our very own web site.

  • Network Help

    • If you are having trouble connecting to resources on our network, Network Help will help you determine whether your hardware is misconfigured.

  • Internet Help (IP Release/Renew)

    • Having problems connecting to the internet? First, ensure that no internet-enabled program (such as AIM, a web browser, your email client, etc.) on your computer is working properly. If this is the case, Internet Help may provide you with a quick fix.

  • Network Shares

    • The ResNet Rules of Use Policy requires that all shared network files or folders be password protected. Find instructions here on how to protect your data.

If you are still having problems with your computer, or have questions about any of these steps, we encourage you to contact us. See more about this in Checking-in Your Computer.
