About ResNet

Computing has become an important educational tool in all areas of study, as more and more information is being disseminated electronically. For today’s student, a campus technology is crucial to knowledge sharing, general communication, and completing day-to-day activities in higher education. In order to address student information and communication needs, a department at the University of Puget Sound has been created to provide technical support to the campus community.

ResNet, part of the Technology Services, provides computer and support services. These services include dorm computer labs, computer support, educational materials, and a high-speed connection to the Residential Network. When living in an on-campus residency, students connect to the Residential Network to gain access to the Internet and University online resources. ResNet Consultants maintain and support student computing at the University by assisting students with computer problems and ensuring that the network and residential computing facilities run smoothly.

Our Services

  • Fast Network Access

You can expect a considerable boost in speed. Although exact rates depend on time of day, browsing the Internet and downloading files will be five, ten, possibly fifty times faster than dial-up modem transfers. You can also be online and use the phone simultaneously. You won’t have to worry about missing a call or waiting for dialing time or busy signals -- your computer is always connected.

  • Personalized, One-on-One Support Services

ResNet Consultants are available during office hours and will assist you with any network and security-related problem, such as fixing Internet browsing problems, IP configuration issues, and virus/spyware removal services. ResNet consultants will review other computer problems such as hardware failures or operating system problems, and resolve them when possible.

  • Accessible Computing Facilities

The Office of Information Services provides multiple general access, departmental, and residential computing labs to the campus community. ResNet is responsible for the supervision and maintenance of all residential labs on campus. ResNet provides easy computer access to members of the campus community, while ensuring that the computer lab resources operate as smoothly as possible. There are also general access and departmental labs maintained by Instructional Technology General access labs are available for use by all students of the University, while departmental labs are used by department majors.

  • Dynamic Education Campaigns

ResNet designs and launches informative campaigns to draw the University's attention to contemporary technology issues that impact higher education. Students, faculty, and staff are educated through public events, print media, and one-on-one training.

  • Convenient Email Kiosks

Provided to access email on the fly, kiosks have been setup around campus for convenience and ease of use. Members of the campus community are able to access on-campus resources at these workstations.

All students, whether living on-campus or not, can obtain support services by contacting ResNet
